It is said that there are more than 500 shipwrecks in the Bahamas, and it s probably true. Some of these wrecks, especially those that allow access to their interiors, can be dangerous and even experienced divers should not go into them alone. There are plenty of guides and dive operators who do know their way around. Many wrecks are infested with fire coral. Many more are home to moray eels that are not dangerous if you give them space.

however, much more family-oriented. The $30 million complex is situated on one of the nicest sections of Grace Bay Beach. The guest rooms are more like cottages than rooms, and each is furnished and decorated to match the expensive rates. All are fully air-conditioned, have either two double or one king-size bed, and all have panoramic views of the ocean. Some even have kitchenettes. Villa suites even have two bathrooms. The resort offers plenty to see and do they have to justify the cost and there are all the usual facilities you might expect in an upscale resort, and more: fitness center, pool, swim-up bar, in-room massage. Ladies will find the spa especially appealing. As I said, very expensive, but worth it. Lower Bight Rd, PO Box 186, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, BWI, 800-BEACHES; www.beaches.com. All-inclusive from $600 to $1,200.

Arthur s Guest House is a very small, family-run, bed & breakfast inn with two small guest rooms. Both have TVs and small kitchens, but no telephones. It s run by a very hospitable couple, Stacia and Adolphus Arther, who do their very best to make sure your stay is a happy one. It s inexpensive, short on facilities, but comfortable.
