Today, with the boom in tourism, the black population is doing better. Many of the new businesses on the islands are owned by Bahamians of African descent and there s a real sense of pride in this ownership.

The Beaches Whitby Beach lies to the northeast. Then there s Pumpkin Bluff, Bluff Beach, and Horsestable Beach farther to the north and west. All deserted, all fabulous, and all littered with shells and sand dollars.
