The Modern Era By the early 1900s, people of African descent had become the majority of the Bahamian population, but power remained in the hands of the white minority. By the 1930s, the islands had been discovered by the millionaire developers from America and Europe, and the gap between the races grew even wider.
Erebus Inn. Built in the early 1960s, before the tourist boom began, this is Provo s veteran inn. It looks down on Turtle Cove from its location on the cliffs. It only has 25 guest rooms, beckler river campground all of which have been renovated several times in an effort to stay up with the big boys on Grace Bay. The air-conditioned guest rooms are decorated in pastel colors, the furnishings are comfortable. Some of the units are small cottages apart from the main building. It s a cozy little inn and, if you can live with the lack of glitz and newness found in most other hotels on the bay, I think you ll find it a pleasant experience; it s cheap, too.
